Environmental Justice<\/span><\/span><\/h1>

What if we acknowledged the common roots of social inequality and the climate crisis?<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Environmental justice places the people and communities most vulnerable to these injustices at the heart of the socio-ecological transition: it affirms their dignity and strengthens their capacity to take action, without imposing new burdens on them. A just transition is collective, based on solidarity, and decolonial, and holds institutions\u2014particularly municipal ones\u2014politically accountable for transforming their policies and practices.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

An Ongoing Effort Toward Environmental Justice<\/span><\/span><\/h2>

Since its inception, Transition en commun has been a space that explores and highlights the connections between social justice and ecology. The Environmental Justice initiative comprises three complementary components<\/strong> aimed at equipping the alliance and local communities to make the socio-ecological transition in Montreal a just and political endeavor.<\/span><\/h6>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
