Conference: ”Climate justice: embedding climate action in a broader, just and equitable framework”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wednesday, May 10th – 10h to 11h30<\/p>\n

Co-organized with the David Suzuki Foundation and the Foundation of Greater Montreal<\/em><\/p>\n

The people most impacted by climate change are those who have contributed the least. Beyond this observation of profound inequality, the climate crisis could be a revelation, among others, of the impasse of some of our societal choices. Conversely, thinking about the links with other crises, about our way of seeing the world and the living, could lead us to consider more equitable and effective courses of action.<\/p>\n

The objective of this conference will be to build bridges between sectors and actors to respond to social and environmental justice issues and to initiate avenues for reflection and collaboration.<\/p>\n

Workshop: ”Collective Action in Montreal Neighbourhoods: Towards a Just and Equitable Transition. What is the implication for companies and institutions?”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wednesday, May 10th – 13h to 14h30<\/p>\n

Co-organized with Projet impact collectif – Centraide of Greater Montreal, and the Montreal Coalition of Neighbourhood Roundtables<\/em><\/p>\n

Several neighbourhoods are on the move to mobilize their community towards a more just, inclusive and environmentally sustainable city. Whether it is with the collective action model of neighbourhood roundtables, within the Transition en Commun alliance, or through initiatives stemming from the Collective Impact Project, collaboration between all actors in a community is essential to ensure the socio-ecological transition.<\/p>\n

This workshop will highlight the collaborative and collective action processes that are being deployed in Montreal’s neighbourhoods to work for their social development. The socio-ecological transition will be addressed from a broad perspective that includes the issue of social inequalities. The workshop will invite participants to propose new avenues of collaboration between neighbourhood actors, companies and institutions.<\/p>\n

Several questions will be addressed, such as: how do these networks and initiatives go about ensuring the participation and inclusion of all? What are the challenges and opportunities encountered? What is the role of companies and institutions in these local approaches?<\/p>\n
