“Territorial Equity and TSÉ” – A Look Back at the 5th Major Meeting of Espace Quartiers

On October 23, 2024, the‘Espace Quartiers de Transition en Commun’ invited citizens and organizations to its 5th Major Gathering dedicated to territorial equity in the context of socio-ecological transition in Montreal. Participants were welcomed at the organization’s offices Petites-Mains , located in the Villeray neighborhood of Montreal.
The event brought together residents and organizations to discuss social and environmental inequalities at the neighborhood level. The presentations highlighted the importance of acknowledging historical injustices, including local communities in decision-making processes, and tailoring solutions to the specific realities of vulnerable neighborhoods. Concrete examples, such as that of the Saint-Michel neighborhood, illustrated the challenges of mobility, housing, and access to resources. Participants expressed their desire to continue these discussions and to engage in local actions to promote a just and equitable transition, thereby contributing to a more inclusive and resilient future for Montreal.
