“You talk to me about the environment; I’ll talk to you about the land.” — Joséphine Bacon
As part of its collaboration with Mikana, Transition en Commun aims to offer its members and partners the opportunity to learn more about the histories and perspectives of Indigenous peoples. Raising awareness among non-Indigenous people about the realities faced by Indigenous peoples is a key step toward fostering understanding and dialogue, thereby humanizing Indigenous people and ultimately dismantling the racism and colonialism perpetuated and reproduced by non-Indigenous people.
The awareness-raising activities offered by Mikana are organized into different levels of progression, so that participants can follow a step-by-step path. That is why you must have completed the first training module (101—Introduction to Indigenous Perspectives), held on December 8 or February 2, in order to access the next training module (102—Decolonization).
