The DPG Group’s new report on democracy at the heart of the transition is now available

This is the result of a major collaborative effort that was presented by Nadim Tadjine, coordinator of the Working Group on Participatory Democracy and Governance (DPG), to nearly 200 participants gathered for the Montreal Forum on November 26. The report *Democracy at the Heart of the Socio-Ecological Transition: Proposals for Moving Forward Collectively* provides a brief overview of democracy in Montreal in the context of transition, as well as a series of proposals and conditions for strengthening and renewing our approach to democracy for the transition.

Nearly twenty years after the first “Chantier sur la démocratie” (2002–2014), which helped lay some of the foundations for participatory democracy in Montreal […], a new wave of discussion is taking shape in Montreal to reflect on, review, and adapt the city’s democratic framework.

This document highlights the need to reexamine our democracy and proposes various democratic reforms to spur the launch of a “Chantier 2.0” initiative for democracy. It is the result of significant work by members of the Participatory Democracy and Governance (DPG) group of Transition en Commun (TeC), whose objectives were to: 1) formulate a set of requests to the City of Montreal to foster a robust democracy in a context of transition; 2) broadly mobilize members of the TeC alliance, as well as stakeholders and organizations working in the fields of democracy and transition in Montreal who wish to reflect on and contribute to this important work.
