Check out and contribute to the new Directory of Montreal Initiatives to Reduce Car Use

Following the release of its framework, the Working Group on Reducing Car Dependence is proud to announce the launch of a new tool! Because the transition to a city with reduced car dependence requires major changes, let’s help foster new projects by highlighting the progress that has already been made!
This directory serves several purposes: to highlight and promote Montreal-based initiatives that help reduce household car ownership and to share information about existing projects in our community. By drawing inspiration from one another, let’s give ourselves the opportunity to innovate and try new approaches.
This tool highlights a variety of approaches —both current and past—that have helped address the challenges of excessive motorization at the neighborhood level in Montreal. Several types of projects are listed, such as regulatory initiatives, road planning projects, as well as bicycle workshops, service offerings, and awareness campaigns.

Stakeholder Testimonials:
This report clearly shows that we are not doomed to see the number of cars on our roads and in our neighborhoods continue to rise. We can indeed take action at all levels to improve safety, health, and quality of life in Montreal’s neighborhoods.
